Advisory Neighborhood Commission 3D

Advisory Neighborhood Commission 3D (ANC3D) has jurisdiction covering American University, Foxhall, Kent, New Mexico/Cathedral, the Palisades, Spring Valley, and Wesley Heights. See their web site at www.anc3d.org.

The Palisades is covered primarily by three commissioners' areas: 3D04, 3D05, and 3D06. (there is a small portion in 3D09). The ANC website shows the area boundaries, provides contact info for the commissioners, and also allows you to find your 'SMD' (single member district) -- and thereby your local ANC rep -- by entering your address.

The Advisory Neighborhood Commission is the "grassroots" organization in DC's political structure designed to reflect community and neighborhood interests, from zoning variances to liquor licenses, from traffic to police protection. Its views, by law, are to be given special weight by District departments and agencies. The commissioners are elected to two-year terms on regular election days.

ANC3D meets the first Wednesday of each month in the Horace Mann School Community Center at 7:00 p.m.

The meeting agendas are posted at the ANC3D web site; information can also be obtained by contacting the ANC3D Administrator at ANC3D@hotmail.com, or 202.363.4130, or by requesting by mail: ANC3D, PO Box 40846, Palisades Station, Washington DC 20016.

More on the ANC system, including a complete listing of all ANC commissioners in the city, can be found here.
