Welcome
to the Palisades Neighborhood Library.
I
hope most of our customers have now had a chance to try
CITYCAT, D. C. Public Library's online catalog, either from
home or on a visit to the Library. In addition to accessing
all of DC Public Library's holdings, you can now check your
record, renew items or reserve books on-line. To do so,
you need an individual PIN number. The next time you are
at the Library stop by the information desk to register
and we will show you how easy it is to use these new features.
The Library's home page address is
www.dclibrary.org. and provides links to numerous other
useful Library and Government resources including INFOTRAC,
an online index to magazine and newspaper articles.
The
Palisades Neighborhood Library is now offering computer
classes to help senior citizens learn to use the library
catalog and get started on the Internet. Space is limited,
so please call to register. The Palisades Library also hosts
two book clubs. A book discussion group for
adults meets once a month, usually on the third Tuesday
of the month at 7:30. The group reads novels, short stories,
nonfiction, poetry and plays. Recent selections have included
West with the Night by Beryl Markham and Pastoral
Symphony by Andre Gide. An Adult Book Discussion Group
of Children's Literature meets on the 4th Thursday of the
month at 4:00 P.M. Please call for for exact dates and upcoming
selections.
Our
Children's Programs which include Baby Time (ages
6 mos. - 18 mos.), Time for Two's (18 mos. - 3 yrs.), and
Story Time (3 - 7 yrs.) run in 10 week sessions throughout
the year. These programs are very popular, so please contact
the Children's Librarians to register. The Children's Room
also hosts a variety of special events throughout the year
for which no registration is necessary.

landscaping and make the grounds an inviting community space.
Last year an outdoor bench and chair were purchased with
grant funds.
