Palisades Newsletter

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Intern at Your Newsletter
John W. Finney, formerly with the New York Times and presently a professor at Georgetown University, is offering a rare opportunity for an ambitious student. He will personally supervise your reporting assignments for the Palisades News. Assignments will be mutually agreed upon. Not only will this look good on your resume but you will have the chance to work with an uncommonly good mentor. Carpe diem!

Membership
The Palisades Citizens Association is currently mounting a Palisades-wide membership drive. A membership mailing will go out before you receive the December newsletter. If you have been looking for the expiration date on your label (and not finding one), don’t worry. (See “ from the...President’s Desk.”)

Crime Watch
Huge kudos go to Kit Kosakowski who has written the Crime Watch column since the November 1995 issue. It is typical of her reliability that her last report for this issue was submitted just four days before her move from the Palisades. So, we are looking for a new crime editor. It must be interesting work or Kit would not have done it for so long.

History Note
Since last issue’s Harold Gray article on the Civil War in the Palisades there has been sentiment expressed that the Palisades Citizens Association seek an historical sign from the National Park Service identifying the Potomac Avenue ridges as Battery Martin Scott. You can direct any comments to pmcginn@aol.com or 244-5282.
