NEIGHBORHOOD NOTICES

Feb. 27 Meeting to Discuss Subcommittee
to Look at Size of New Homes and Additions

As a result of the interest expressed at the PCA General Membership meeting in December, the formation of a Zoning Subcommittee will be discussed at a meeting on Thursday, February 17, 1999, at 7:30 p.m. at the Palisades Library.
Concern about the size of new houses and additions has prompted many residents to question what remedies may be available to control the massing of such developments. Research into various types of overlay zones, analyzing if changing the allowable building envelope is desirable or feasible, reviewing experience elsewhere in DC and surrounding communities could be the tasks of this group.
If you are interested in pursuing these issues or chairing this group, please come to this meeting. Any questions, call Julie Koczela at 244-5681.

Sally Fallon of MacArthur Beautification thanks the community for the response to its recent appeal. There was a 50% increase in both replies and revenues. New perennials have been ordered for the medians, to be planted in the spring. She also alerts us that the embossed bricks for the Safeway kiosk will be installed in two months.

You can check your March, year 2000, property tax assessment at our Palisades branch library. The amount shown should be the same for September, 1999. We have heard that there might be a problem.

There will be a meeting of the Palisades Business Committee on Tuesday, February 8, at noon at Starland Cafe.
